We are a rapidly growing team of international academics with a range of different nationalities. The official language at Bilkent is English including the language of teaching. Applications by academics of all nationalities are thus encouraged.
Faculty positions are available in all areas of psychology, such as subdivisions of cognitive psychology (learning, memory, perception, language etc.), neuroscience and psychophysiology, developmental, social, health and clinical, industrial and organisational psychology, personality and individual differences, and other areas. We have an interest in language development with a view to encourage cross-cultural research exploiting unique properties of the Turkish language. Other opportunities to conduct cross-cultural research are invited and encouraged. We already have a strong vision research group and will be interested in further strengthening our activites in this area and other areas related to perceptual processes (such as action). Expertise in any other areas, including general cognitive sciences, computational modelling, artificial intelligence etc. will be considered.
Applicants should have at least a PhD, preferably in psychology while qualifications in other disciplines will be considered if supported by experience in psychological research and teaching. We do not yet offer Research Assistant or Post-Doctoral positions.
Publications appearing in high-impact ISI indexed journals are a major criterion but a demonstration of a potential to publish in such journals may also be sufficient. Similarly, a demonstrated ability to bring in research funding will be an advantage.
Faculty positions in the department have a teaching requirement of two courses per semester. You would also be expected to contribute to the supervision of senior thesis projects by final year undergraduate students. We also have short-term plans to offer postgraduate programs, initially in cognition and perception.
Faculty relocating from outside of Turkey are offered rent-free housing and various other benefits including private health insurance.
If you are interested in working in a world-class research and teaching environment in psychology, and are excited as we are by the idea of establishing new labs and research groups in a young, dynamic department, please contact us on:
